Finally getting my posse of neighborhood kids

I’ve been trying to start a story about a group of neighborhood kids since On Our Own, which used to be called Up Above because it was a group of kids building and then meeting in a treehouse.

Or in the pictures, with the two sisters starting a lazy summer.

But, for some reason, some tragedy (On Our Own) or nightmare (In the Pictures) always interceded and my group of kids never got to play together.

I’m putting an end to that right now, with Piper’s Notebook. Yes, there will be adventures, yes there will be interpersonal drama, but basically it’s three kids one long lazy summer exploring neighborhood mysteries and just growing up.

A philosophical note: Oddly, I’m in a time of my life now where an endless summer stretches out in front of me. Maybe I’ll learn from Piper and her friends how to spend it.
